The right ratio?
How much time on the net or gaming is too much time? The Kaiser Family Foundation says the average amount of time on tech gadgets is 7.38 hours per day! This is a legit number. No crazy soap box lecture here. Nope. 7.38 hours is the real deal. So, one sure fire way to help your child or yourself is to create a one-to-one ratio. For every minute spent on technology (apart from legit work or school activities) you should spend one minute expanding your offline life: swimming, running, hiking, biking, eating out, baking, gardening, painting the fence, going to see live music, museum, etc. Thirty minutes gaming equals thirty minutes on the trampoline. Give it a try for one week and you will see how out of balance your life is and how good it feels to have limits that make sense!
